Title: 5 second rule
Gender: Male
Age: 46
Location: Baltimore, MD
About Me:
The five second rule is one tool to help reduce ego. The idea is to only give yourself 5 seconds to either complain revel about the past then move to right now.
I have been reading Echart Tolle and have been involved with Andrew Cohen's work for a number of years. I find these perspectives refreshing and complementary.
I work to increase self-determination for people with disabilities, particularly for people with mental illnesses, and people who are aging. I believe that how we treat our most vulnerable citizens is the truest measure of our society. People with disabilties often have very little control over their lives, particularly in relation to the systems that provide care. In the US this group is among the poorest and has the highest unemployment rate. This needs to change. People must be in control of their own care, and must have meaningful opportunities to work and to live as they choose.
I also play guitar (jazz, funk, blues). See www.myspace.com/shawnterrell
